Same book different physical size

Upon completing of my book I ordered a proof copy. I made some changes (but same number of pages) and ordered a second proof copy, plus three extra copies.

I decided to make a change with the cover and ordered one more proof copy. The last proof copy is about 1/8 inch shorter and narrower, and about 1/8 inch thinner than the other books. It is the same number of pages, except the first 4 books the printer had added two blank pages at the end, the last one did not have pages added, however two pages would be negligible in thickness.

This really is not a problem for me, but I am curious how the same book can be that much different in size, and also thinner. It’s quite noticeable if the books are placed side by side.
