100 to 200 pages blank. Hopeless printing

I have a book of around 700 pages. It's quite a specialist book and I've sold few and they've all been fine. My latest copy has about 100 to 200 blank pages making the book quite useless. I've contacted Lulu and they tell me that they will get back to me within 2 to 4 days which is completely hopeless as I need another copy now. I've therefore ordered another copy but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and what the outcome was (and after what sort of delay).

Normally the printers that Lulu work with are fine but this one is completely useless

  • I just checked on the case you sent us and it looks like someone from our print team has already looked at it and sent you a reply. If you get back to them, they'll be able to help sort out the cause of this problem.

  • Thanks. Yes, that's right. Nice one Lulu (just don't use that printer again !)

Mistakes happen. Even with the best of printers.

Mind you, I have published many books this year and the proofs were flawless.

  • Over the past six or seven years I must have had a few thousand books printed through Lulu and this is the first that has been bad, so its not a bad track record. However, this particular book was really important and that was why my BP rose when I realised it had blank pages....

The lack of QC can be disturbing. Things like that should be noticed by the printer. One excuse I have seen is "Well we don't know what should be on the pages" but they should because the PR PDF in use is usually displayed on the operator's console screen.

    Thankfully such things are rare.

  • Hi,

I went to preview my book after ordering a copy and now all of the pages are showing as blank.

I'm really worried that my whole book will be sent to me, full of blank pages.

Does anyone know what I should do in this situation?

I checked the book before I clicked for it to be published and all of the pages and images were there.

I have raised a ticket, but haven't had a reply yet.

    Thanks in advance.
