Amazon and Kobo Distribution glitch ?
in eBooks
I went to change my distribution for my books. Why can't I just choose Amazon and lulu? Everytime I click Amazon, Kobo automaticaly checks. If I uncheck it, then Amazon unchecks. If I click kobo first Amazon doesn't check.
I doen't want kobo, Just Amazon and lulu. I don't know if this is a glitch or if it's the way lulu has it set up. Anyone know? Thanks.

I have no idea because I click all but Amazon. Why would you not want it on Kobo? The Kobo option includes "everywhere else" and this is a list of some of those places >> http://www.kevinlomas.net/E-book-Retailer-List.html

You are correct kobo does do," everywhere else, but my reason is not the issue. I don't know if my page itself is glitching or if lulu has it set that way.
It sounds like a glitch. I can't reproduce what you have seen.

If it's a glitch, I will have to contact them.
Thank you for your time and replies.
Hi Lisa,
When you distribute your eBook to Amazon, it goes through a distribution channel which includes Kobo and other retailers. Making the book available on Amazon likewise makes it available through all the CoreSource channels.
But if I click Kobo it doesn't automatically click Amazon.
It doesn't make sense. I should have the option to Uncheck Kobo and keep Amazon. You can do it vise versa.
That makes no sense to me, either, the Amazon and Kobo boxes are two separate options.
It's not easy for me to test it because I don't want to upset my selections (and I publish e-books direct to Amazon) but I do not recall the Kobo and Amazon tick here boxes being cross-linked.

So, you can opt to sell only on Kobo, but when you opt for Amazon, they will send it to all of their CoreSource channels, which includes Kobo and the list of other retailers.
It's about how Amazon makes the book available, and we force the Kobo box to be checked when you select Amazon because they are going to distribute through those channels anyway, and we want to give you the best info we can.
It's odd, I agree, and seems counter-intuitive, but that's the way I'm told it works.
Indeed, but I don't have the Amazon one clicked, and when I do it comes up with that Q about already being on Amazon, which I am.
