Modifying Styles
- Open the “Modify Styles” box.
- Using Word 2003 and before, select “Styles and Formatting…” from the “Format” menu.

In the “Style and Formatting” box, click the down arrow next to the style and select “Modify…”.
- Using Word 2007 and later right-click on the “Normal” style in the styles menu and select “Modify…”.
From here, you can modify any of a style's Font, font size, alignment, spacing, etc. If you select "Automatically update" on the bottom of the box, Word will automatically update any places where that font is used.
New Styles
- Select the “New style” button
- In 2003 and before:
- In Word 2007 and later:
- In the “New Style” box, give the style a catchy name.
- Base your new style on the Normal style.
From here, you can set the style's Font, font size, alignment, spacing, etc. If you select "Automatically update" on the bottom of the box, Word will automatically update any places where that font is used.
