Creating a Preview in EBooks?

There is no way of generating a preview document of an ebook.

I used the conversion process provided by Lulu but that generates a epub fil as a single document.  How do we then generate a preview? Previously we'd generate a PDf.  When you click on Create  a Preview button it asks you to download from your own files.

Is it the case you download the whole epub document again and it will only read the first ten pages? PDF most likely wouldn't read on an iPad...etc

Clarification would be useful.

Cheers

Re: Creating a Preview in EBooks?

At the end of the publishing process you should see a link to "View or customize your preview". If you have already left the publishing wizard, click Revise next to your project (or click on it's title in your project list, and scroll down to the Preview section to add/change your preview.

No this is not a useful reply Nick.

What file does one use for this ebook preview  There is nothig in the wizard that creates a preview from the epub conversion file. So does one upload a word file  (or PDF of first chapter as in a previous print version) If so how does an e reader read that?

Re: Creating a Preview in EBooks?

The wizard will help you create one from the files you have already uploaded or you can upload your own. Here is a list of files we accept: http://connect.lulu.com/t5/Publishing-Process/What-types-of-files-can-I-upload/ta-p/33469

Re: Creating a Preview in EBooks? problem continues

Nick, went through the whole Revision process again. Tried to upload a simple word file as preview as it suggests you do (just ten pages) and it failed. Says contact support.

So is this a MAc v Pc thing?  (I use a MAc)

Everything else has uploaded but this preview is clearly a wizard issue of magnitude

Re: Creating a Preview in EBooks?

Ok. So it doesn't like word filesfor previews but it accepted a PDF.

So I have a preview.  But is this right for e-readers?

Ok I'll keep quiet now and go back to actually writing something.

cheers all
