How do I make changes after approving my book?

Occasionally an author will approve their book for retail distribution and for some reason need to make additional changes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Authors must purchase and approve a proof-copy of their book when it is originally published and after each revision to the interior files and/or book cover before it can be submitted for distribution.

If you only change the book's price or description for a previously approved project, there is no need to purchase a new proof copy. You can simply approve the changes to be submitted to the retailer.

To revise your price or description:

  1. Go to My Lulu > My Projects
  2. Click on the project title.
  3. Click the Edit button, in the price or description section.
  4. Edit the field and click Next or Save Changes.
  5. You will be asked to re-approve the book for distribution. This is required before we can send updates to the retail distribution partners.

To revise a previously approved manuscript and/or cover:

  1. Go to My Lulu > My Projects.
  2. Click Revise next to the title to be edited.
  3. Click the Create Revision button near the top of the Project Details page.
  4. A new version of your book will be generated allowing you to edit the cover, interior, metadata, and price.
  5. Proceed through the Publishing Wizard, correcting the problems you found during your review and upload the revised project files.
  6. Publish the revision.
  7. Purchase a proof copy of the newly revised book.
  8. When it arrives, review the proof copy carefully.
  9. If you are happy with the proof, approve the revised book.

Please Note: Once your book is approved for distribution, you cannot change any of the following:

  • Title
  • Author
  • Binding type
  • Trim size
  • Interior color
