Embossed gold foil printing is available on the spine of the blue linen, hardcover binding when you select the Dust Jacket binding option.
Your project's title and author(s) entered in the first step of the publishing wizard, determine the default foil spine text.
Please Note: The rules listed below are used by our system when determining the default foil spine text for your project:
- If your title and author name(s) combined are shorter than 42 characters, both will display.
- If your title is shorter than 42 characters, but the title and author name combined total more than 42 characters, only the title will display on the spine, without the author name(s).
- If your title is longer than 42 characters, but your author name(s) is shorter than 42 characters, only the author name(s) will display, without the title.
- If your title and author name(s) are both longer than 42 characters, your title will be truncated to 42 characters and displayed without the author name(s).
The default foil spine text for your project can be edited in the following ways, based on how you create your cover:
Cover Wizard
You will be prompted to enter the foil spine text when initiating the Cover Wizard. This text can also be changed from the Extras tab.
Cover Designer
The spine text can be edited using the Text > Spine Options.
One-Piece Cover
If you upload a one-piece cover for a Dust Jacket Hardcover project, the foil spine text can be edited in the Cover Designer (but not the new Cover Wizard) BEFORE proceeding through the one-piece cover step.
