Does anybody know maybe if it's possible to make a facsimile book lulu-compatible?

What is a Facsimile Book? A Facsimile Volume is a faithful re-creation of the original to the extent that it is virtually indistinguishable from the original copy. The word "Facsimile" comes from the Latin ("fac simile") and means "make it the same!". According to the dictionary, it represents "the faithful rendition of originals, particularly of manuscripts, generally produced by a photographic process". This circumscription is too general and requires further definition when applying the term to a Fine Art Facsimile Volume.

Well I know what it means. I just wanted to know the exact context. I assume they will be scans.

The only real issue is size -- you'll have to choose a Lulu book size whose dimensions match the original, if there isn't one you'll have to either choose the nearest match and resize the original or choose the nearest larger size and place the facsimile pages in the centre with white space surrounding. I've seen this done commercially.

Also - if you want  distribution  then the second of the above may be best because the original, although it will have a margin, will be an image which, if not matching the colour of the printing paper, may be taken as an image rather than a margin and fall foul of Lulu's distribution margin rules.

... and if the paper colour and marks have to be matched (cup-ring marks as well, which I have seen done) which I will assume it will be for a full page scan of an old book, it will not have to have any margins at all or it will just look strange. Fullbleed is that? Lulu allow that do they not?

Yes, I got some old books scanned, of which I own the copyright. And I wanted to see if I can just use the scans of the original old publications. The old publications themselves, they way they were edited, are of interest to my project. Well thanks.

They are books you wrote then? They are not olde Dickens or something then? Just scan them with OCR software then and paste it in to Word.
