ebook publishing problem...making an ePUB file give a false error message that I cannot get past...

ebook publishing problem...making an ePUB file give a false error message that I cannot get past - Text boxes were found in the document and must be removed. There are NO text boxes in my document. I've removed all formatting. There are several charts and pitcures that are required in the book.

I've been stuck in this same place for months! Help?

Also, am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Re: ebook publishing problem...making an ePUB file give a false error message that I cannot get past

I'm also having a problem with my epub.   Although this is kind of weird.  I entered the information for my novel, ISBN etc.  Had problems with the epub I was trying to upload -- reading error messages.  Later in the evening when I went to revise the submission, I couldn't even get the epub to upload.  The prompt wouldn't recognize it at all.  Its very strange. What should I do?

Re: ebook publishing problem...making an ePUB file give a false error message that I cannot get past

It could be "stealth" text box formats included in your header or footer.

From our ePub coversion guide:

Remove Text Boxes:
The Lulu EPUB Converter cannot convert documents with text boxes. You will have to remove them from your document by searching your pages to find text boxes. Click on a page and hunt through your headers and footers. The automatic page numbering feature in Word uses text boxes, so remove those. To find text boxes, make sure you are viewing your document with the “Print Layout” (under the View menu) and select all of the text (CTRL+A). Text boxes will show as dashed or solid lines.

Glenn_H,
Thanks for the post, but I removed headers and footers already. Really not sure what it could possibly be!

It would help those who just read the forums for help if things were not "solved off-board". I am sure many would like to see how.

Re: ebook publishing problem...making an ePUB file give a false error message that I cannot get past

One way to clear everything apart from page text is to Select All, and Copy.

Then paste to Notepad.

Then open a new totally blank Word file (page size does not really matter for a file for an ePub).

Copy the text from Notepad.

Paste it to the new pages.

Sorry that the above is to do with Word and Windows, but it should work with others.

I have no ePubs with pictures in so I am not sure how the above handles those, but I am sure you will soon find out!
