Text formatting (font size) question

Referring to the Book Manuscript Templates you provide, is there a minimum and maximum size of font that can be used?

For example, the templates I use default to an 11 point font when I open them in my word processor. Can I choose a smaller font?

The reason I ask is because I would like to print a book that I have written, but it has more pages than the maximum page count allowed for the type of book I choose (740 pages). Yes, I can choose a larger book size, but I personally don't like them. If I change the font size from 11 point to 10 point, it will fit (barely).

Also, I couldn't find anything in the help files here on Lulu that specify a minimum or maximum font size.

Thanks for your input.

Also compare fonts, some - such as Garamond  - are more compact than others of the supposed same size, i.e. an 11 Garamond is smaller than a 11  Times New Roman

Re: Text formatting (font size) question

Something else that has a major impact on your book pages number is the width of your Margins.

A small reduction in Margins can make a big change in page numbers.

Don't make them too small, because white space on a page is important.

My {smaller than normal, but they still look okay} Standard sizes are:-

Top 1

Bottom 1

Left 0.7

Right 0.7

Gutter 0.3

Header position 0.6

Footer position 0.6

all measurements in inches.

And BTW, there is no size limit on e-Books, failing all else you can go that way.

Petra.

Petra, do you read the age of the postings before you reply to them? :-)

And, you can see that this one was ticked as Solved. The original poster actually returned and clicked that, which is rare in itself!
