.  I did the section breaks, as they are suggesting, but it is really a pain after a while.  I really suggest you do this in Desktop Publishing software instead, particulary InDesign,  but I will say again that this kind of thing is easier in Desktop Publishing software than a word processor.

Indesign looks expensive*, especially if you already own MS-Word.

I don't doubt  specialist Publishing software can do a great job of designing a book, but it seems to be a sledgehammer to crack a nut when the issue here is section breaks.

It seems the suggestion is to  spend hundreds of pounds and then take time to learn how to use a new software product just in order to save learning how to use one simple feature of the product already being used.

It would be much cheaper to ask Maggie or Ken to fix the page numbering if section breaks are really too difficult to understand.

It's worth every penny especially when used in conjunction with Word. :smileyhappy:

I did say that there were cheaper or free options.  I suggested InDesign because it is easy.  There is also the fact that there is more documentation here on it than say Scribus.  With section breaks, you need to tell Word to not number the first page to have numbers not be present on a page.  However, in Desktop Publishing software, again particularly InDesign, you can use master pages to have pages be numbered or not without section breaks.  The issue was on page numbering, not section breaks and I was suggesting an easier path.

Re: Page numbers appearing on title pages

For those of you who use Adobe software, they have announced that the progs are being 'compromised', that is, hacked into by various malware. What this means to PDFs being created I have no idea.
Apparently it affects Flash also.
