I have created a PDF document that contains the necessary embedded fonts (as shown by the document properties, below). However, when I attempt to upload the document, Lulu reports that the fonts are not embedded. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Yeah, I had the same problem. But then I uploaded a .doc version and it went through fine. I would try that if Word is your main processor anyway ![]()

In your screen capture Courier doesn't show as embedded.
If you're using MS Word try changing that font to Courier New

Thank you, all, for your replies.
I had attempted to upload a Word document (having ensured that font embedding was enabled) but without success.
However, having switched to using doPDF (rather than Nitro PDF Creator) to produce my PDF file, it uploaded without problems.
What is odd is that Nitro PDF did embed the fonts (as shown by the earlier screenshot) so it should have worked. (I appreciate that Courier wasn't embedded, but Lulu was reporting that the other fonts were missing too).
In fact, looking at the properties for the doPDF document, I'd have thought it much more likely that this would have failed (there are no font names for starters!)

I know of TWO possible sources of error.
One is that certain Fonts have restricted Embedding Permissions, depending on what the Author allows. This has forced me not to use certain Fonts, which I purchased, sadly, for that specific purpose.
But the other source is inside Adobe Distiller.
Using Lulu's Settings, available as a Download from the website usually sorts this out for the text, but if it's feeling grouchy Distiller will still try to mess you about on your Covers, and then you have to chase it down step by step through its Properties, and through its Printer's Properties.
Distiller KNOWS the Page Size/Fonts/Colour Pallet you are using, but often asks YOU what it is, or offers an incorrect default hidden deep in its Preferences. Get it wrong, and not Embedding the Fonts is its usual punishment.
BUT
It has less to do with the Fonts, than the Page Size from my experience! And just because you told it the correct Page Size in one place, don't expect Distiller to tell its Printer the correct size, YOU have to!
YOU have to ensure everything matches or Distiller will get it wrong.
The last time Distiller decided to mess me up, {Just Last Month} it refused to Embedd the Fonts no matter what I tried. I could not find the fault. Eventually I had to Export my entire cover as a single .png image, and paste that on to a Page of the correct size, and .pdf that.
I wasn't sure it would work, but it did.
If all else fails, try that, and if my memory is not at fault Lulu accepts .png files of the right size for your cover, you may not even need to .pdf it.
Petra.
