How to set page settings in PDF995 using Word Starter 2010?

I have used the Lulu us-trade template in Word Starter 2010 when preparing my manuscript.

Now when converting that document into a pdf file using PDF995, by clicking onto 'print'.

The settings show my Custom Page Size (i.e. us-trade size of 15.24x22.86) but I cannot choose it for the file and so I am always getting a pdf that is larger (i.e. 21.59x27.94) than I want.

How can I actually choose the Custom Page Size tab and for it to be used in the file, too?
Thanks.

Let Lulu make the PDF for you.

Thanks Ken. But from Lulu I only see the formatting packages to purchase. So not really an option.

As every author on Lulu submits their manuscripts as pdf, how do you all set the actual page size?

Thanks again.

Re: How to set page settings in PDF995 using Word Starter 2010?

Thanks again, Ken, for whatever reason I had totally overread that. ;-)

However the pdf Lulu created, didn't show the same page format than my word file.

Though when I create a pdf file it always shows the same page format.

How can I now change the text ?

Will I have to try to guess for each page, looking at the pdf, how the word file might have to look like,

so that I eventually get the correct format in the pdf as well ?

Is that how everyone here does it? It just seems a rather time consuming task as there are more than 100 pages.

I appreciate someone's help again, thank you.

Though when I create a pdf file it always shows the same page format. You need to more specific about the problem. Perhaps you have used line spaces rather than break pages.

Re: How to set page settings in PDF995 using Word Starter 2010?

Mmmh, that is strange then, Ken.

But I am not entirely sure about your suggestions.

Here some more specifics:

I have used Word Starter 2010 software, the Lulu US-trade template and when typing, used a 1,5 line spacing,

but viewed the entire document with page breaks, i.e. two pages next to each other

(page 1, next to page 2,

underneath page 3, next to page 4 and so forth.

As the book has an index, various sections, etc. the spaces on each page vary.

Not entirely sure what I can do differently.

Perhaps someone can advise on how to get the pdf995 software, perhaps even with the additional pdfedit995 software,

to use my custom page size for the pdf conversion?

This way I would be able to have my converted pdf file in the format I want, like with all my other pdf conversions before, and I could submit the correctly formatted pdf file to Lulu then.

Appreciating someone's help with this still, as I am rather stuck, thank you.

P. S. However while typing this post here, I noticed that the spacing is quite large in each line here,

but sometimes, (see above) it is much smaller. This also happened in my document, and I don't know why.

Re: How to set page settings in PDF995 using Word Starter 2010?

PDF995 is technically another printer.
If you click properties, you might be able to set page size. If PDF995 doesn't give you this option, then bad luck.

Actually I don't see problem using Lulu generated PDF. You only need to avoid some fancy features (e.g. vertical section alignment, some paragraph marks, fields) which Lulu convertor doesn't handle properly. If in doubt, load converted file and see what you get.

Re: How to set page settings in PDF995 using Word Starter 2010?

Thank you both Ken and acibifidus for your replies.

As I am using paragraph marks, this must be why the page setting is off in the Lulu pdf.

I will now manually work on that, but I am also in the process of checking out another pdf converter (the inbuild one of

Open Office), so hopefully that one lets me set the  page size setting beforehand and I'll be able to submit my own

to my wishes formatted pdf file to Lulu.

I believe that's the way for me :-).
