Exhorbitant cost of express shipping to UK author

I have just attempted to place an order for a total of 16 copies of my various books, costing £88. The only shipping option that came up was EXPRESS (I am guessing that Royal Mail has been dropped because of the strikes) -- but the charge was £102. More than the cost of the books!

I could get my books for roughly the same price at Amazon.co.uk, paying no postage on my Prime membership.

Ah, but I would also receive royalties of roughly 20% of cover price, making the Amazon purchase a much better option.

Sooooo ... I will have to pay thru the nose to get my proof copies, and once my books are published I will buy my stock from Amazon.

That looks a bit daft to me, especially as Interparcel (who I have used before with great success) are quoting me £6.50 (having guessed the size and weight of the Lulu package of 16 books).

(1) If I pay Interparcel myself, and
(2) Send the labels for Lulu's printer to stick on my packet, and
(3) Book a time for the pick-up,

I can then get my 16 books for an addition cost equivalent to one of the books!

Lulu, you have got to fix this. Or tell me that you can arrange for an Interparcel pickup from your printer.
Please use plain text.
