Hello all,
I have a bizarre font situation that I'm hoping you can help me with. I scanned a previously published manuscript (with the author's consent, of course) and am re-publishing it on Lulu. The issue is that I had to make several edits in the original manuscript, and the only way I was allowed to do so was by changing the original -- embedded -- font. (What my program (Adobe Acrobat Pro) didn't realize was that the book was originally published in BookAntiqua -- the scanning distorted the font somewhat.) I made the edits using BookAntiqua, and then tried to upload the revised manuscript to my project on Lulu, but Lulu tells me it doesn't recognize if the fonts are embedded or not. When I tried the Lulu.joboptions application linked through the embedding fonts Lulu support page, it tells me that it cannot distill .pdf documents. At this point, I just don't know what to do/how to embed the fonts! Anyone have any idea on how to save this manuscript?!?
Oh, and one further thing -- the book also includes handwriting and hand-drawn pictures (stick figures) -- could that be part of the issue?
Thanks for your help!

What about the size of the book, does its dimensions match Lulu sizes?
I have done (and am currently doing ) what you are trying to do, but I have scanned the text using OCR and have reformatted the text using a new font and a different sized page than the original, one that gets Lulu distribution. (You have the PDF so have easy access to the text) and I have scanned the images as JPGs and inserted them in the text.
Then I save that as a PDF with embedded fonts and uploaded.
If you want to stick with your modifed PDF and are having problems I'd suggest you have a word with one of the PDF guru's here on the forum which is Ken Anderson: he's posted about a zillion times here so you should easily find him, or go straight here http://www.kenandglen.com/lulu/
