Promote your book through you tube

Hi

Does anyone else promote their books on you tube ? I have 4 videos now with my first video now at 450 hits and growing, i have seen a sharp increase in visitors to my website in May resulting in my best months sales to date. My latest video shows clips from all the old TV shows available in 1968 ( The year in which my story is set) there are some golden oldies from both sides of the Atlantic.

Just thought it might work for other authors !

Not sure how much it works, but I have about 20 videos on youtube promoting books. The most non-sensical one has had over 100 000 views. Book sales do not match that number.

100,000 hits you would have thought a fair percentage would have converted to sales with that level of interest, still its a 100,000 people who now know about your books.
Could you drop me a link so i can have a look ?

I have not had any sells come from YouTube traffic.  I've gotten a lot of comments, but frankly, some people hate it because all you can pretty much do is a slideshow kind of thing, even when you have recorded video to go along with it.

I have a couple of your books on my website in the lulu authors page, regarding you tube it must have something to do with the genre, mine is pretty specific to Scotland and is aimed at ex pats all over the world, but i have to say i sold over 135 more downloads and 57 more paperbacks after my video went live in may.
I actually entered the Amazon top hundred in 3 seperate genre's Humour,Short stories and PARENTING, God knows what my book has to do with Parenting!
JK Rowling wont have to worry about me, but it is a big increase for me.

Yeah, I know that my titles are up there.  Thanks for reminding me though. I guess crime fiction is not big on YouTube, but then again I only made two trailer. I've mostly been active in FaceBook Tumblr more than YouTube, when it comes to book promotion.

Im in the process of adding videos online: A Song for my book (how unique is that?), a trailer (yep like everyone), an interview (ditto) and a longer movie/song... I hope!   As I only posted this week I'll let  you know if it has any impact.  My issue is with LULU, that under the spotlight page the LINKS to YouTUBE do not work.  Have you found the same problem?
