RESIZE for hardback destroys old version

I attempted to make a hardback book "North vs South" from the paper back version. The ad said old version will not be altered. Indeed a new version was created and the old one was still there. The new file beganwith the word RESIZE to indicatethat it was the resized version. After creating the hardback version, I went back and looked at the original paper back version--the print ready interior file had now been converted to the new RESIZE vesion! is my old paperback book gone forever--do I have to re-create it from scratch?

To make matters worse my original North vs South now has no files associated with it on the Myfiles listing. So much for the statement "your original files will not be altered".
