Lag time between distribution sales and revenue

My book entered Lulu's international distribution channels in August. I've checked Web sites all over the world and my sales rankings don't match my revenue, not by a long shot. I realize some vendors take up to 160 days (5 1/3 months!) to pay but if Lulu trusts a vendor, they will front the money to the author and it only takes 6-8 weeks. So how come I have high sales rankings but virtually no revenue? Does Lulu only have a very short list of trusted vendors? javascript:emoticon(':?')

Re: Lag time between distribution sales and revenue

Depends on what you call 'high sales ranking'. One sale on Amazon can move you up several thousand places ... but it's still only one sale. It's the number of sales that are listed on your revenue table that are the important figures, bearing in mind - as you say - that the retailers can take a long time to report sales to Lulu.

Re: Lag time between distribution sales and revenue

Thanks. Well, to avoid boring you with a lot of numbers from various sites, I'll just say that my number of "Books Views with Buy Clicks" through Google's Book Partner program is four times my lulu.com sales. Getting paid, the bane of a small business owner!
