Doc and PDF files won't upload PLEASE HELP

I have an author who I am assisting here (under his name) and it is his first time using Lulu. He is not having a good experience. Without LiveHelp I can't find a single thing to help us. He has received two letters but they were of no use. Can somebody please help us get this gentleman onto Lulu?

I am authoranastasia on AOL.

We changed all the fonts because he had quite a few different ones. They are now all Times New Roman.

I checked the margins and Lulu suggests .5 instead of the .75 I am used to so we changed that too.

The error message just keeps saying we have found a problem and sends us to the Help Section of the Site Map.

Please e-mail me at the above address so that I might help Darnell. Darnell, as I said, is new to Lulu and would like to become part of the Lulu family but this experience is turning him off and I like Lulu and highly recommend it to all new authors especiallly when I am their editor.

If you are loading a PDF, then ALL fonts must be embedded or embedded subsets to load.

If you are using a Word file, then it must be a .DOC file, not a .DOCX file. Newer versions of Word can use the "Save As" function to save it as a Word 2003 compatible .doc file.

If neither of those apply, you will need to give us more information about your file(s) to assist you.

First thing I'd try is to download one of Lulu's templates: http://www.lulu.com/uk/help/book_layout. Then copy your book into it, don't chnage anything, try to format it or such. Then try uploading that. If that wokrs, then you can start the re-formatting job.

Hi,

you really need to have PDF format, and these need to have embedded fonts. I use OpenOffice to convert WORD 97 files. To embed fonts you need to click on (1) lossless compression and (2) PDF/A-1.

Also, it could be a different problem, especially if you are uploading many parts. You need to make sure that the page numbering is consecutive.
