Another quick (probably common...) question

The Distribution FAQ states:

Page numbering must be correct. No page numbers may be skipped. A page can go without a number, but it must be counted and consistent.

Does this need to include the title page and copyright page? If I include a dedication page after the copyright page, but prior to "page 1" of my book, does this need to be counted as well?

Re: Another quick (probably common...) question

The page count needs to include the forematter (title, imprint/copyright, etc) pages, but your page numbering can start at 1 on the first page of the first chapter.

For example, if you have 8 forematter pages and 244 pages of text, your total page count is 252 pages. You can leave pages unnumbered, but you need to include unnumbered pages in the page count.

If you leave your forematter pages unnumbered and start your page numbering in the main text (e.g. on the second page of the first chapter at page 2, leaving the page number off the first page of the first chapter, and off the first page of every chapter if you wish), so long the pages are otherwise numbered sequentially and a page number follows on from what it would be if you hadn't left the page numbers off the first page of a chapter, that will be acceptable.

Re: Another quick (probably common...) question

that includes headers and footers of any nature. They should only be on the 'story' pages. Possibly this is because books also contain pages with no content and they look strange with headers and footers on even if it's only a page number.
