When I up load my files in the first step of the wizard it work fine, but when I continue on to the next step of making the cover it doesn't work. It shows a default cover with my book title, and gives me the option of using a theme, a color, or using a uploaded cover of my own instead. The cover uploads OK, but will not take the place of the one shown when I click the accept button. Nothing happens no matter how long I wait, even if I try using the theme creator that doesn't work either. I can continue on to the next step with the default cover and finish publishing, but I don't want that cover.

Kevinlomas, When starting my project as they call them, I had to choose what form of book I was publishing, softcover, hardcover, or Ebook. Since I do not want to publish in print right now, I chose ebook and it took me to the up load step of the wizard. When I uploaded my file it converted it and gave me a option to download the finished file to view, save at LuLu and continue on to make the (what you call it ) display cover that will be used on line. It didn't work.

Lynn:
I'm sympathetic to your delimia. May I suggest a strategy. Publish here on Lulu and go to Barnes & Noble and buy some books. Let me give you a partial list. Get Facebook for Dummies, Facebook Marketing for Dummies, Web Marketing, E-Mail Marketing, and anything else you can find on Marketing, Promoting your work on the Internet, etc. Then take a marker pen and read, read, read. You're almost on the right track, but it's not publishing with a bunch of different publishers you need. You only need one good publisher. But instead of looking for a list of free publishers, and wind up spending a lot of money needlessly, what I would recommend is that once your work is published by a good publisher, (Lulu is a good publisher) then you need to recognize that your job is to market your book. Lulu can help with that but you're the one who must do the heavy lifting. Learning how to do marketing is heavy lifting. If you write a good book, like maybe the next Harry Potter, and you learn to be a good marketer, (even a fair marketer) you can make Lulu's website crash every day, and they will love you. - Steinberg

Thanks. I am preparing to market my book but right now. I am making sure everything is edited and just right. While I have no grand plans on becoming the World's next best author, I am proud of myself for finishing something that I started. I was sure other writers were looking for other publishers as well.
Thanks for the book ideas...I will take your advice and look into some of those. Mostly, I just wanted to be able to say I wrote and published a book by the time I turned 31 and I did it just in the knick of time :-) My bucket list is shorter now due to Lulu and I am so very grateful for their services !!!
