bulk order disounts

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Am i missing something or is the discount for even 99 copies really only 7p per book????

Out of interest i kept adding copies to my basket, and it still was only 7p (quoted below). My book is a 7.5 square colour softback perfect bound. (Cost price per book of about £9)

"Bulk savings have been applied to your cart. £0.07 off individual print costs of 25 to 99 copies"

A few years back didn't bulk ordering of even 25 get you a good discount? Where did the deals go? :smileysad:

Re: bulk order disounts

There have been some recent changes and the discounts on lower amounts have been put on hold.
All the same, even 99 is not really 'bulk' when still using POD. 5,000 would get you real 'bulk' discounts, but via special order only :-) although I notice that the link to Bulk has gone from the bottom of the site's pages.

Some investigation yesterday showed the new bands to be:

1-25
25-99
100+

If people don't think 99 is the slightest bit of a bulk order (£900!) - and think it's ok to only get 7p per book off (wooo!!) - it seems lulu is no longer for the very skint occasional author who would have bought about 100 to start off with to try and sell themselves. :smileysad:

Lulu must only want either rich people, or professional career authors, or basically anyone but skint ol me :smileysad:

And by the every single one of my published print books now say "hmm we can't find that product" when clicked on, lulu changed all old ones to ebooks and have got rid of my print copy!!!! Without asking!! And i read in another thread staff saying "just remake the book, you will still have the files" - but surely that isn't the point :smileysad:

Re: bulk order disounts

No, in the printing world 99 is far from bulk. The POD/BOD machines only go at one speed I would imagine, and that is slow, whereas on a normal machine printing off  5,000 it can go so fast you cannot see the print-offs! I doubt on a print run using a POD/BOD machine there is little in the way to be saved.

Re: bulk order disounts

The point though is that lulu used to knock about 10% off for about 25, if i remember correctly, and more off more books.

Now it is only 7p per book if buying 99.

Lulu only want well off people nowadays  :smileysad:

Re: bulk order disounts

It's only the well off that can afford books printed via BOD!
Then again, if you are really well off, you could pay £10,000 for traditional printing and get the price per book down to 20p :-)

Re: bulk order disounts

Every Lulu page at the bottom used to have a link to Bulk Printing, it has now vanished, and a Search does not come up with anything about it, but Lulu staff in reply to someone else did give a link to it, look for that on the forums.

Re: bulk order disounts

I appreciate your response.  I have searcehd every way I can imagine for the link you speak of, but find nothing but this thread that seems half-way relevant.

The poster who states above that there is a new band set, doesn't speicify how he came across this information, nor where to make an order using this information.

Guess I'll head for the support page and see if they can help me out a bit more.  Again thanks for your help.
