Timeline questions [ Edited ]

Hi everyone, 

I have been trying to find some kind of a general timeline but have had trouble. Basically what I am wanting to find out is how long it will take for my book to be available from the time I upload the finished files. I know that a paper book will take time to ship, but how long will it take for the e-book version to be readable and for the paper version to be purchased and ordered?

I would love to give an actual release date as February 15th for my book which is completely finished now. Is that even possible with this time frame, and if so, when do I need to finish uploading everything to make this happen?

Your book will be available for sale  immediately

but how long will it take for the e-book version to be readable

A PDF eBook is immediately available for purchase from from Lulu

 and for the paper version to be purchased and ordered?

Immediatelycavailable for purchase. How long it takes between order and delivery depends on where the customer is, what type of book it is, what delivery option is chosen and where the book is printed.

Ypu'd be crazy to fix a date without having bought a proof copy yourself. It's only when you hold a copy in your hand that you discover all the little typo's and formatting errors you missed looking at it on your computer.

See above answers. Shortest time for me between finishing and ordering my paperback book and having the book delivered to my door was three days.

If you want your paper book to be on Amazon and your eBook to be on B&N then you must buy a proof copy of the paper book then approve book for distribution and it can take 8 weeks or so for book to appear on Amazon

Hi Sara,

First of all The information is relevant to the country in which you live.

With this in mind i can tell you of my own experience.

The books I choose to create, or format for others in Australia so they can create their own, are the sizes printed within Australia by the  Melbourne printer. BECAUSE a local printing company is faster than overseas.
If my book is Hardback it is printed in FRANCE.

Time taken by up-loading your PDF is relevant to the speed of your internet. mine take about 10minutes.

I then receive a Down load from Lulu for proofing content and formatting; about 5 minutes. (If I find a glitch I need to recreate and reupload) It happens sometimes!!!

Add a few seconds to Lulu to click and proceed.

From this point you get an email to remind you to order a draft print copy, (I usually order two. this takes a week to reach me) Your local Lulu print partner is best. (The time is SHOWN when you order your books.) If you like what you made your can order straight away.

Check the check-out page, for delivery times when you order.

With the eBooks you can order almost immediately from your Lulu book's page and the 'download' starts after payment.

If you want your print books to go directly to your customers address then change the delivery address when you order.
