Question About Photos In Print

If I'm creating a hardback book but I want some images put in what kind of paper is it printed on and what do the images look like if I get the pages in color? Are the pages with text regular old paper and the pages with images nicer? Or are they both on nice paper? Or both on regular paper? By regular I mean standard paper.

Where can I see an example?

Re: Question About Photos In Print

You cannot see anexample of real paper pages online, but I have several examples on my shelf. The pages are printed on great quality paper, the images are gorgeous and bright.

Lulu has the best colour printing. I've tried Createspace for colour books and it was awful.

Oh, I forgot to mention; I've made both: books with photographs and books with illustrations (photobooks and regular books from scratch). Stunning result.

Re: Question About Photos In Print

Thank you Maggie! So if I printed up my book and included photographs here and there amongst the text then all the pages would be the same quality, right? It wouldn't be, say, regular paper, regular paper, regular paper, glossy paper with photograph, regular paper, regular paper, etc?

Re: Question About Photos In Print

Oh, they would never go in and compile a book with different kinds of paper per page. That would be too time consuming. It's all automated.

Re: Question About Photos In Print

Hi!

Maggie is correct here; the same paper is used throughout each book. You can see more detailed information about what paper your book will have for its interior based on the specifications that you choose on the chart in this help article:

Re: Question About Photos In Print

Thank you for your immediate reply. Here is what I have found out re color paper options:

1) 8.5 x 8.5 - matte white stock (80# 115 gsm

2) 12 x 12   - silk coat finish (100#)

Now I am trying to figure out what this means. If I order a square book of photograph size 12 x12, does that mean the images will be glossy. It seem so, but I am not sure. It appears that the smaller size square book would have matte photographs.

Re: Question About Photos In Print

Thw reply from maggie was 13 months prior to Milly's hi-jack :-) That is if the dates are set as UK dates D-M-Y, if not then 4 months ago.
