Re: Price Breaks

It doesn't seem fair but Lulu is a US firm and you do find they do treat us in the UK as if we are suckers. Over the years I have seen loads said about UK prices compare to US ones and I'm still to see the government do anything to remedy the problem. I suppose it is the same with these discounts.

Re: Price Breaks

Thanks for the info.

I finally figured out that you don't have to click a special link to oder.

Just login to your account, then My Lulu, then click on the View/Buy for the printed book you want in your account.  Enter a quantity, and the discount is automatically applied.

I appreciate all of the help and guidance.

Re: Price Breaks

[ Edited ]

All European stores continue to have bulk tier discounts assigned to Print on Demand (POD) packages beginning at 25 copies; however, they may be different than the discounts available in the USA. Lulu has different print partners in each geographic region, and production costs vary for each POD package per region.

To maximize savings for both authors and consumers, bulk tier discount levels are now assigned to individual POD packages, rather than a blanket discount for all products ordered from a particular store. These discounts are based on the book size, format, binding, etc. Therefore, you may receive a larger bulk discount on one type of POD package than you would on another.

You may find that some of our European bulk tiers are even better than they are within the United States, for instance:

  • In Europe, quantity 25 of 8.5x11 Color Perfect is 20% off.
  • In the USA, quantity 25 of 8.5x11 Color Perfect is 10% off.

The Lulu cost calculator is also being updated to display current bulk tier discounts for each POD package in an upcoming release (Date to be determined).  That way, both authors and buyers can see the various ways one can save on Lulu.

Re: Price Breaks

Thanks Ken for raising this, and thanks Glenn for replying.

Because at the moment, the coupon only saves me £0.14p for a whole bulk of 200 books.

That's pretty much the standard 3% Bulk discount that I was already paying...so the coupon is a LITTLE misleading to those not living in the U.S.

It's a shame that Royal Print was the cheapest method for me as a UK Author to market my book - I originally wanted it as A5 (or near enough) like most novels or series out there in the book stores - but the price comparison between A5 and Royal prints were grotesquely (spelling) miles apart...which made no sense to me since an A5 sheet should theoretically/logically be cheaper than using a Royal Print....

Oh well :smileyhappy: at least I prefer Royal for the larger covers - but I am under the suspicion the bulk is more expensive in the UK because of this.
