Re: Please try the converter.

I tested a draft of a new project today (a Word .doc file) and while it completed, I got a message to the effect that "optional hyphens are not supported." Fixing this would make me go through the entire document and make all the optional hyphens permanent. My conclusion is that the converter is still not ready for prime time.

Re: Please try the converter.

Optional hyphens are a major problem for many converters and are not supported in EPUB2.
Replacing them using GREP or similar is a few seconds work.

Re: Please try the converter.

I give it two thumbs up!

For the past 2 weeks I'd been going back and forth with Lulu customer service reps trying to get an epub through the system. It had passed sigil and threepress with no errors but wasn't accepted by the Lulu Creation Wizard. Unfortunately the only feedback I could get was that there was a problem with one or more images, but no specific errors were provided.

Today I learned about the new converter, plugged in the Word version of my project, and voila... it converted it to an epub on the first try with no errors.

I'm still waiting to see if the project makes past the reviewers, but so far so good.

Well done Lulu on the new converter!

Brian
