Now what do I do?

I have three Ebooks, two are listed, one pending.  One is on B&N, but I am completely new at this.  How do I go about marketing.  I don't know if lulu does that.  I heard that it can take up to two months.  Is that for paperback?  What is the first step I need to begin marketing?

Thanks

Re: Now what do I do?

No Lulu does not market the products unless you pay them large wads of money.

Marketing is a huge subject, but if you look more closely at the forum section titles here you will spot a section just about marketing.

It can take a while for books of any type to get listed at the many places Lulu sends them to. Unless you are very poor, just sit back and wait  :smileyhappy:

Re: Now what do I do?

Thanks.

I've been checking through Google, etc regarding their advertising.  Going to get into marketing.  Just that the first step seems be a crevice.  But then, everybody must take their first step.  Even little Tabitha, who appears to enjoy sitting on top of kitty.  Glad he is declawed.

Re: Now what do I do?

Try the Book Stores like Barnes & Nobles and any Department Store that has Book Departments; Contact your local Chamber of Commerce to ask for advice; try to set up occassions for Book Signings at Book Stores or Public Libraries. Find a new publisher that does not charge the author, such as PublishAmerica or UnitedPublishing in Texas, who also pays the author. Also check out a newspaper online called the GAP which pays $50 per poem and $100 to $200 for short stores and accepts manuscripts for reviews. They pay you -- Lulu pays Lulu.

I suggest before taking this advice you Google the names involved and perhaps read the Wikipedia page on PA.

And read very carefully what is being promised and what you get for your payment

Re: Now what do I do?

Indeed Peter. I recall one such 'publisher' who led you in via many many glowing readings of a manuscript supposedly passed up to higher and higher people, but eventually they start to ask for money for just about everything from proofreading to advertising, a step at a time, that takes months.

PublishAmerica is a scam - they claim to be a traditional publisher - but they are a vanity press and a scam. Stay away for them.
