My book is only 38 pages, with color photos, 6x9, saddle stitch binding.....

From what I'm reading I won't be able to get it distributed anywhere but Lulu.com.  It doesn't have enough pages, and the binding is also an issue. I'm so disappointed - I thought I was so close to being complete and having the book out there for the public to see and now it looks like that won't happen.

That's not true. You can get distribution with Lulu and elsewhere. But given that your book has color photos, Lulu is the best option.

Make it perfect bound. Looks better.

I have the wrong binding.....I'd have to change it to perfect whatever it was binding. Will that look good with such a small book? My ideal was to have it available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and of course on Lulu.

You can add pages you know. Title Page, Copyright Page. Enlarge the font. Add a few blanks at the start and end (which you are supposed to do anyway according to the Dist Pack 'rules'. Then they have to be divisible by 4, which may mean adding even more pages!

32 pages is the lowest you can go for perfect bound. If you happen to have fewer than 32 pages ina  book, it is easy, as Kevin says, to make it even more: About the Author page, glossary, info about your website, Other Books By page, Dedication page, small title page, full title page, and so on.

Perfect bound is gorgeous. Way better.
