My avatar image

I need help with my avatar.   I have a new image that I'd like to appear on my posts but every time I try to add it to my file it come up as "Too large for the image file"  But I don't know how to get the thing down to the right size.  The avatar I now have is old, old, old but it is the only one that the program will take.

Re: My avatar image

Your new image has to be approved by Lulu. This may take several days from when you upload it.

Re: My avatar image

Hello Gusty,

It sounds like you have to make your desired avatar image smaller. To do this you can use any number of photo editing software. Please make the image smaller so that it can be successfully uploaded.

Kind Regards,

Re: My avatar image

Yes I think I had read that somewhere.  The pics I have were taken via a Kodak C513 and I don't know how to get them down to the right size for uploading.  Once I do, then how do I submit the pic for approval?  It seems to me that the avatar I have on display now didn't go through approval, I just brought the image up and it went on.

Re: My avatar image

Mucho gracias Dave.  My pics were taken on a Kodak C513.  Any suggestions about a program?  My present avatar is from an Email I received from my sister Gail but it is old.  I don't look that good anymore.

Best wishes,

Re: My avatar image

Hi Gusty,

You can edit your picture in any image editing software. Photoshop is of course a good choice, but if you are looking for something more affordable (or free), try doing an internet search for image editing software. Make sure whatever you get is designed for the operating system you are using (OS, Windows, etc).

In order to change your forum avatar image, click your screen name located in the top right corner of the screen while logged into the forums (you have to be in the connect section of the site). Clicking your screen name will take you to your Lulu connect profile page. Look for the section titled "Images for (your name)". Click the view images link. Here you can click "Add Images".

Once the image has been added, click on it to view it. Click the "Image options" drop down menu while viewing the image and select "Use image as Avatar".

If your image is seized correctly, it should immediately update your avatar image. I really hope this information helps.

Kind Regards,

David K.

Re: My avatar image

Thankee most kindly Dave.

I'll work with what you've given me and if I do it right it'll do the job I'm sure.  My son told me to adjust the pixels on the camera to the lowest and take the picture again.  So I did that but it is still to big.  the message said the limit is 333k and the pics was 367k.  An improvement over the previous pics but still oversize.
