Re: Lulu support and complaints.

I admit that I am only a "small bit player" amongst Lulu's hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers.

My Lulu royalties only average about £300 (US$500) per month.

But that is £300 per month that I would not have without Lulu.

Yes, in the early days there were problems - problems with orders, problems with printing, problems with binding, problems with staff attitudes, etc. The one thing that always worked well was Lulu's actual online publishing system - very easy to use. But the whole process did have some flaws.

Yes - there were sometimes problems getting those flaws attended to. Yes - there were sometimes frustrations.

But, over the piece, for an internet start-up probably staffed by people mainly under the age of 30 (and therefore, by definition, lacking in business experience), things were no worse than any other internet start-up.

So, Bob, you have my modest support in your efforts to deal with those problems, in your efforts to "grow" Lulu for the benefit of your writers and in your attempts to deal rationally with the few detractors who, farnkly, seem to be beyond reconciliation.

Re: Lulu support and complaints.

Hi Bob,

I have been with Lulu for a while and have just published another book through your company.  I order 20 copies of the book (Demons Among Us) and they arrived a day before expected (good job).  However, the book cover (front and back) look to be on a slight angle.  This angle has caused the back cover to move into the cut area and every sentence on the back cover has had its very few letters cut off.  I know for a fact that the template was used to create the cover and was upload without any problems.  I did contact "customer service" about it (case #00449799).  That was four days ago with no word from anyone.  I understand I am not the only person having issues but, as you have hinted at in this thread, you don't have many complaints to deal with.  What I need from you or one of your employees is to fix the problem and resend my order with a return sticker for the unusable books.  Of course I do not expect to pay for the new order of book as this is clearly a printing error from your press.  Also, these books need to be delivered by August 2nd the absolute latest for a book signing.  Thank you very much for your time and complete understanding on this matter.

I have asked some of our print specialists in customer service to take a look at the issue for you. If you do not hear back from someone soon, please let me know.

Re: Lulu support and complaints.

Hello everyone,

I have published and ordered something three months ago for myself that had some sizing issues(partly my fault) and was printed entirely in reverse from end to beginning(not my fault). I feel I've been very patient on getting a response and I've posted several times and even e-mailed a time or two but all of it has been seemingly ignored by reassuring messages of "we'll look into it". A problem as big as printing backwards I simply feel is not getting its due attention.

I have provided photos of how it is wrong, I have stated my complaints, I have made my case and I am tired of complacently waiting and wondering that whatever or whoever is going through these complaints and taking them seriously. All I want are answers, for either a correct reprinting or a refund from that order.

My order number 4116737 and the case number is 00407536.

Re: Lulu support and complaints.

Hello Bob,

Where can I find the chat?

I bought an ebook and it worked well. After opening (once only) I activated the Adobe Digital Editions and now I cannot open it.

I tried to deactivate the Adobe Digital Editions but even deactivating I cannot open it and gives me the message that the ebook is registered or authorised to another user.

What can I do?

Re: Lulu support and complaints.

Hello all,

I heard from Carol about my issues with the printing and have done what was requested.  However, I have not heard back from him or anyone else on this matter.  It is looking more and more like QC and customer service is non-existent.  Well, unless you complain very publicly anyway.  Just let me know if you fixed the problem and if you resent the books.  I highly doubt that either was done since I have received nothing not even an email saying, "Yes the issue was fixed but we would not be able to meet your deliver date." or something of the kind.

Hey Bob, I think you and your employees should read they books written about "Zappos" and their customer support ideology.  Maybe you'll pick up a few pointers on how it is done.

Re: Lulu support and complaints.

Hi, all. I thought I would chime in here and forward something I learned about Lulu out of Bob Young's mouth right on YouTube in a video made at a conference. When he started Lulu he had absolutely no business experience. That's right. And he said that he liked to start things, get them moving and then move on to the next thing. It looks like he has moved on to the next thing, because people are still complaining. My advice: if you don't like what Lulu is doing, move to another company. I have and support is great there. Just take your books and ebooks and go, because you are not going to get the same quality of service here anymore. I just hang around to sell the ebooks, if at all, and I get more sales on Kindle than I ever did here. Lulu's best days are over.

Nice comment T,
You might like to share who it is that gives you the service you once had here.

Re: Lulu support and complaints.

I noticed that my previous post had been completely deleted from the discussion. If that is the way you treat your suppliers then maybe I should issue a PR along with the fact that I already pulled all your book links off my site. Good luck in your continued refusal to listen to the people who put you on the map, though lately I have not been able to find Lulu anywhere except for its own site and Google. Not even on the NYSE.
