Re: Lulu UK Forum?

There's still a lot for you to learn!
It's all readily available info though if you look at distribution requirements.

A book for distribution must meet certain requirements. The total number of pages must be an even number that is divisible by 4. The last page must be totally blank - I always make the two pages blank.

Re: Lulu UK Forum?

Hi dubhdara,

Good to see you on board.

I come from your neck of the woods originally but now wayyyy down in the southern hemosphere. I find lulu the ideal centre point for what I want to do. So, your in good hands here.

Also, and this specifically goes to Juice, listen to Ken. The guy knows what he is talking about and as sure as Hell is as genuine and helpful as anyone. So, play nice. If you want respect from people, you gotta earn it. Firing from an empty gun is not gonna help you much.

Cheers,
Dan O'Riordan.

Re: Lulu UK Forum?

Thx all.

Another thing...

I intend to make the Kindle version available before the paperback, but I notice Lulu has an epub option. Can I use this to complement Kindle? What's the difference? Should I use Lulu's service here too?

Re: Lulu UK Forum?

Kindle is proprietary to Amazon.
Lulu do not support Kindle.

Your question seems a little daft as you have to create a manuscript (most folks tend to do it in Word) whatever format you want the book in.

The manuscript can the be used to create a paperback, a PDF eBook, an EPUB or a Kindle.

So why do you want a Kindle first?

Isn't it about time you stopped asking questions and just got on with it? :smileyvery-happy:
The time you already spent asking questions you could have had one of each already. :smileywink:

It's nothing to do with you being a Scot and can't unlock your sporan is it? :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Lulu UK Forum?

Oh, don't worry - I've been doing a lot besides asking lots of questions :smileywink:

I'm not Scottish. I'm English - family goes back here into at leats the 1600s, though a couple of unaccounted lines may have had Irish origins.

Shall we drag him by the scruff of the neck in to a Project Wizard?

Re: Lulu UK Forum?

Hello Lulu peeps, from North Yorkshire in the UK.

I have a question or two. Please be gentle with me!

I've got a project going and am waiting for my second proof copy to see if it looks OK. The first had some formatting issues (I learn the hard way). Once that's all sorted, I want to get that book out there and sellable. I opted for Extended reach package as it seemed the best one, but I wanted to know if I can still sell my book in actual physical bookshops. I'm guessing I could order a load (100 say) and take them round some local bookshops. Is that the way to go?

Also, I've had my book on Amazon in Kindle format for a few months and it's sold quite well, but am wondering if publishing it in ebook format on here will cause any problems with Amazon. The Lulu ebook distribution looks like it is focussed on non-kindle formats, am I right?

Anyway, thanks for reading. :smileyhappy:

Hello Lulu peeps, from North Yorkshire in the UK.

Hello, how are the puddings? But first note the ? in the user posted title of this thread. It is asking if there is one, not saying that this IS one. So you are better off starting a New Posting in the forum area to do with your questions.

I'm guessing I could order a load (100 say) and take them round some local bookshops. Is that the way to go?

Not really.

Also, I've had my book on Amazon in Kindle format for a few months and it's sold quite well,

Why bother with shops and the expense of BOD created 'real' books?

but am wondering if publishing it in ebook format on here will cause any problems with Amazon.

It should not, no. It's your copyright.

The Lulu ebook distribution looks like it is focussed on non-kindle formats, am I right?

Yes. Mainly Apple and Nook.

Re: Lulu UK Forum?

Thanks for the answers, Kevin. Appreciate it. I guess I jumped on this thread because there were similar questions already asked. I know for next time.

As for wanting to bother with "real" books, I just feel like I'm missing out on a slice of the market by only having it available on Kindle/e-book. I have also had several people ask me if I have it available in print, so I'd thought about taking the tack of approaching my local indie book shops with a few copies.

Thanks again.
