Extended reach sales

Hi. Lulu-ers, can anyone tell me what are extended reach sales that have appeared in my sales account today? Not seen that sales channel before and as such, I'm a bit curious.

Re: Extended reach sales

I think that it is just the new reporting structure implemented after the introduction of the Shopping carts and software upgrades.

Re: Extended reach sales

I noticed the same thing.  I have GlobalReach, and my non-Lulu sales used to show up as "Distribution".  But in the most recent report the sales show up in two different forms, some are "GlobalReach" and some are "ExtendedReach".  Probably as Ken suggested this is due to the recent system update and re-structuring.  I don't know if it has any significance for authors.  I think "ExtendedReach" is free (at least it used to be), but it didn't allow sales to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.   If that is still true, then I wonder where these ExtendedReach sales are coming from.

Re: Extended reach sales

Yes, I mis-spoke.  ExtendedReach DOES allow sales to Amazon, but not to Barnes & Noble and other outlets (including brick and mortar stores).  GlobalReach allows sales to all of those (Amazon, BN, others...).

So apparently any Lulu sales show up as "Print" (as always), any Amazon sales show up now as "ExtendedReach", and any non-Amazon / non-Lulu sales show up as "GlobalReach".

I think it is that Extended Reach shows against sales on books which have Extended Reach and Global Reach shows against books which have the Global Reach package. A book has one or the other.

I have books which have Global Reach and I have books which have Extended Reach

My sales figures have those books with Global Reach showing Global Reach -US and Global Reach - UK and ditto with Extended Reach, also Print for sales by Lulu and also Apple iBookstore US for an ePub version

Where the book is sold is important for non US authors because for Extended Reach books and those using a Lulu ISBN sold in the USA an outrageous 30% of revenue is grabbed by the US tax authorities.

Much better reporting. Well done Lulu.

Outrageous, yes. Perhaps it's time for Lulu to readdress this situation with the US Revenue.

That would make perfect sense...  However, I don't have any books with ExtendedReach, I have only GlobalReach, and yet with the new system some of my sales are reported as ExtendedReach and some as GlobalReach (for the very same book).

Based on the pattern of sales, I still think the Amazon sales are showing up as ExtendedReach, even though the book has the GlobalReach distribution package.  Otherwise I'm at a loss to explain the reporting.

Strange.Extended and Global Reach are different packages and the second costs.

What is your spotlight URL?

Yes, I never selected ExtendedReach, I paid $75 for GlobalReach for this book.

The book isn't on my spotlight because it is "Direct Access" only, so it isn't listed for sale on Lulu.  (I have other books that are General Access here, with no distribution package for sale elsewhere, and those sales always show up as "Print".)

I agree it is strange that the same book has some sales reported as ExtendedReach and some as GlobalReach.
