Re: Clever ways to promote your book

Great stuff - I had a book published last year and in fact I did get posters, book markers, postcards and busniess cards. But you know, in the end, the company did the marketing and I wanted to save the marketing stationary for when I did a book signing. However, I didn't get round to the book signing because I wrote a second book....so now I have finished my second book I know what to do with my marketing stationary from the first book an that I'm going to order from vista!  I've also contacted a book cafe that is within my local town where I'll be able to do the book signing.....

Thank you all good suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Clever ways to promote your book

I suppose the mugs are even better if the have a secondary attraction...for example, my book cover is a phtot from a place called Carmarthen in Wales - it therefore has tourist appeal....one of the poems in the book - chapter 9, is actually an epic poem with historical content from Carmarthen and the British West Coast...'Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table' retold to suit 21st century...

Re: Clever ways to promote your book

Hello everyone, I am so glad this post received so much attention. I think when we collaborate our ideas we truly come up with the best solutions. One other thing I have done on the prompting of a friend was to create a blog just for my book. I have to say in the beginning I was a little nervous because I had never created nor knew little about blogs but I have to say now that I have I am truly delighted. I have created links from my blog to lulu and amazon where my book is available and also on my authors spotlight page I have created a link to my blog. It hasn't been up very long but I can truly see the benefits of having it. I know you will take the time to check it out and give me some feedback. Please if you do go to my website could you please click the link for my petition and sign it. Thank you all for your great ideas and good luck to all on your projects.

God Bless

Re: Clever ways to promote your book

What a great idea!!

I, too, have used VISTA PRINT!!

I like the post card AND the digital cards and email.

I also recommend to use VISTA PRINT or, if you have a business card maker, to make business with your LuLu Spotlight URL, with whatever MORE information about your book/books. REMEMBER, there is a BACKSIDE on business cards!!

Work your bookwriting into a conversation. Make sure you hand them "YOUR BUSINESS CARD!"

Of course they will probably toss them, so hand out MORE!! That is how you inform people. Friends you will probably may or may not like your type of authorship but hang in there because your friends as well as aquaintances will BRAG about knowing an actual AUTHOR!

Write ON AUTHORS of the WORLD!!!!  Books carry on our thoughts, ideas and imagination.

Re: Clever ways to promote your book

THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE WAY. ALWAYS MARK A PROMOT POSTER OF YOUR BOOK ABOUT WIDOW SIZES,

HOST A BOOK SIGNING OF ONE AUTHOR THAT IS WELL KNOWN, AND ADD YOUT BOTH AND THIER BOOTH TO OTHER'S , ONLY CHARGE THE AUTHOR A FEE THAT HELPS TO PAY FOR THE BOOK SIGNING /PARTY/SALE/

MAKE YOUR LOW SEELING BOOKS HUGE DISCOUNTS AND MAK EYOUR BEST BOOK REGULAR PRICE.

THEY ALWAY BUY THE BOOK AN DTH EDISCOUNT BOOK ALSO.

INIVITE. PEOPLE TO THE BOOK SIGNING FROM ALL OVER VIA FB. TWITTER AND CHURCH,

NEVER SELL YOUR BOOKS TO YOUR CHURCH. ALWAYS INVITE THEM TO IT.

THIS WAY THEY BRING MORE FRIENDS....

HAVE A BOOK SIGN FOR SOMEONE EVERY THREE MONTHS. YOU WILL GET HUNDREDS OF CUSTOMER;S AND MANY FOLLOWER'S

Re: Clever ways to promote your book

I did the same thing on business size cards from Vistaprint. Book cover on front with the Lulu link and the book disruption on back. I leave stacks of cards at any business that will let me. I also left a stack of cards at the checkout desk at my local library with a donated copy of my book. I stop in often to restock the cards and have noticed that my book is almost always checked out!

I’ve also thought about running an ad in the classifieds or local paper with my book cover and other info.
