I was hoping to be able to advertise my cover design services in the Lulu forums somewhere, but Lulu's own help files are giving me conflicting information on what's permitted and where it's permitted.
Lulu's Posting Policies state: "Lulu prohibits posting of advertising links, images or content for the purpose of self-promotion outside of the Shameless Promotion Forum." Thanks to the recent redesign of the forums, though, the link to the Shameless Promotion Forum goes nowhere, and there doesn't seem to be such a forum anymore.
In the announcement thread Welcome to the New Lulu Community & Support, Faith Carroll asks where she should post her copyediting and proofreading services, and Elmore Hammes answered, "As posts from the old Services forum have been migrated by Lulu within those categories, I don't see anything wrong with your posting there ." Elmore isn't a Lulu employee, though, so his answer isn't official--but Nick Popio, the Lulu Community Architect who originally posted the announcement, never addresses this issue or corrects Elmore's statement, so I can only assume he saw nothing incorrect about Elmore's answer.
I'm still left with some confusion, though. The Posting Poilicies are pretty clear--no advertisements or promotion except in specifically designated areas. But if those areas were recently eliminated in the forum redesign, what is the official answer for where advertising and promotion are allowed? Is promoting an outside business even allowed at all now?
Thanks ahead of time for your help--I want to promote my services, but I don't want to litter the forums or violate Lulu's policies in the process, so I appreciate any information anyone can give!
