Blank pages at the back of my book??? [ Edited ]

Hi everyone,

Could anyone please advise me on this rather peculiar issue I'm experiencing?

Why are there blank pages at the back of my book???

My Book Details:

Pages: 36 (all inclusive, including last page blank, divisible by four)
Binding: Perfect-bound Paperback
Interior Ink: Black & white
Dimensions (cm): 14.8 wide × 21.0 tall

Uhm… The mandatory requirements for distribution assert that the final page must be completely blank!!!

Is it a total of 36 pages ... which would include the Copyright Page, TOC, Dedication, etc.??  Just wonder if that pushed it over, but still don't see why there would be an extra blank page (which does increase, ever so slightly, the price of the book).

If your book is going to be sold through distribution (amazon et al) then the total number of pages must be divisible by 4 and the last of those pages must be a blank page.
If you supply say 36 pages all with content of one sort or another, just a full stop, the to get the blank last page 4 more pages could be added.
To prevent that add 2 blank at the front and 2 blank at the end yourself.

Thank you for your response. Yes, my books is a total of 36 pages (all inclusive) and complies with all the mandatory requirements for distribution. This is the first time I've experienced this.

From Lulu's response, it does now seem that their printers are inconsistent. I end up wasting money in the hope that my next order doesn't have unnecessary blank pages appended!

Not having seen the book or all the mail from Lulu I guessing here.

You haven't slipped a page number in on that blank page have you?

Hi Ken,

I've now had an online live-chat with Lulu support. At least now I know Lulu's printers/distributors are not consistent, and is very dependent on my location and the local printer distributor. However, I can't keep adding four pages in the hope that my local printer distributor gets it right, so I guess I'm gonna have to go figure...

No headers, footers, or page numbers on blank pages

Total number of blank pages is two, including the last page

For no apparent reason the changes Lulu have made to the convertors can cause it to resize pages even if you pages are the right size, and therefore shunt the text back and forth, causing the page count to be wrong, so then it adds some blank ones!
I cannot see how inconsistancy of printing companies can be at fault because they all use the same PDF files. However, I once had a proof with 4 blanks added at each end that were not in the PRF PDF!

PS: Check your file for things you cannot see ...
