4 Questions

1. If I purchase a distribution package and Lulu lists my book and someone buys it, how do I get my money from the sale?

2. How do I know how much to set my price at if I only get a royalty? (Say, for instance I would charge $10 if I sold it on my own, like I did with previous books).

3. Can I have a Lulu storefront and my own website also?

4. Do all sales go through Lulu, or if listed at someplace like Amazon and they sell it, they send my royalty directly to me?

5. If I use my own ISBN, and Lulu distributes, can I use my own publisher name and not give the credit to Lulu, or does Lulu have to be listed as the publisher?

Re: 4 Questions

1. You get your money through PayPal or cheque/check if you're in the US. Any other country, just PayPal.

2. Lulu will tell you how much your revenue is when you set your price.

3. Of course you can! www.moonfruit.com is a good free website builder.

4. I imagine Amazon sends the money to Lulu who sends it to you.

5. Lulu will be listed as the publisher if you get a free Lulu ISBN but if you bring your own, you are listed as the publisher.

P.S. That was 5 questions :smileytongue:

Re: 4 Questions

Yes you do get all your royalties from Lulu whether they are sold on Lulu or Amazon and you can set your own price when your revenue is shown at that time. As previously mentioned, you can indeed have your own website. While Amazon and others list Lulu as publisher, Lulu is not the publisher, you are, and you can state that on your book even if it is a free ISBN. Lulu organises everything including the printing but they are not the publisher, remember the reason you joined Lulu, because it prints SELF publshed books.

It is best to have a website with links to your books on Lulu and a link to your Spotlight. Kai mentions Moonfruit as good free website builder. It costs about £4.00 (it is London based) a month to maintain the finished product. I know that there are others that are completely free but you often have to put up with advertising which you can't control.
Just as an example here are mine:

I'm just a newbie myself here so I'm still one of the stumble-bum idiots trying to find my way around, lol.  But, to answer one of your questions, a very good and completely free website builder is the Yahoo SiteBuilder program.  Downloadable from Yahoo.  I plan to use it as someone suggested to you; to let customers have a free look at my book, and when I get them "hooked" send them to Lulu to buy the book.  Good plan. - Steinberg
