Cover image too pixelated

I submitted my e-book for distribution and received an e-mail from Lulu QA that said:

"Please upload a less pixelated version of your cover image. Thanks!"

Would changing the format (currently .jpg) make for a less pixelated image?

The odd thing is the book made it through QA previously but I went back and changed the price and re-submitted - no change to the cover or anything else, just a price change.

How did you create the image?

My wife did the cover - I think she did a water color painting, scanned it and then used MS Paint to do the finishing touches.

That's probably the cause.

See the PM I sent you.

Re: Cover image too pixelated

perhaps it's set at the Lulu suggested from 57dpi? :-)

Re: Cover image too pixelated

Thank you for your help! I have re-submitted with a revised cover image. I guess I'll know in a week or so if the pixelation is better.

Re: Cover image too pixelated

In a week? You can see right away by viewing the file the Wizard creates. Oddly though, the Marketing Image does not appear in that file as the cover. That seems to be added by someone or thing awhile after you have viewed the converted file! Which is not a lot of use is it? Is that what you meant?

Re: Cover image too pixelated

I submitted the e-book for distribution on ibookstore and B&N. The cover is OK for Lulu, but my experience thus far is that it takes about a week for Lulu's QA team to review the cover (and the rest of the ebook) before sending it along to the other retailers.

Yes it does take Lulu's team some time to be pedantic ...
