First book. Objective... a printed membership directory for members only of an association that I belong to. I want to be able to send them all an email with a link where they can buy their own copies. This is to save money by not having to print a directory for everyone, especially if some individuals really don't want one. So, it is not intended for publication.
Questions...
1. Lulu's info says they need space for a barcode in the one-piece design layout if I selected Publisher Grade paper, which was the only option to get a digest-sized book. If it is not being published (no ISBN no.), then does the design still need space for a barcode?
2. The content was layed out in InDesign at 5.5 x 8.5, for a B&W text book with those finished dimensions. There are no photos, hence no bleed, so are those dimensions OK, or do I need to resize for trim margins to 5.75 x 8.75 anyway?

A book using Publisher grade paper is not eligible for distribution and will therefore not hav an ISBN.
Even if you have your own ISBN for your book, you can't use publisher grade paper if you want it distributed via the big outlets?
However Lulu will always add an identifying barcode at the bottom right of the rear cover.
I have one book that the lulu barcode was placed in the lower left hand corner. Any ideas why this would happen?
