Bar code size

Hi,

Which will be correct size for bar codes?

I found here http://connect.lulu.com/t5/ISBN-Distribution/Mandatory-Requirements-for-Print-Books-with-Distributio...

  • Bar codes should be 1.75" wide by 1" high.

The another page says: http://connect.lulu.com/t5/Cover-Formatting/Will-Lulu-add-a-bar-code-to-my-cover/ta-p/33280

  • Generate a bar code 1.833 x 1"

Or, can be choosen one of them?

Re: Bar code size

Those are both advisory. There is a lot of flexibility and as long as it looks readable and right for your back cover make it what you want.

Re: Bar code size

Hi ADV

The 1.75 x 1.0 inch dimension is the minimum size barcode you should include on a one-piece uploaded cover if you wish to distribute the book through multiple channels.

When Lulu automatically adds a barcode to a cover, we use 2.50 x 1.0. As you can see, the dimensions can vary, but must be readable by barcode scanners.

Thank you for pointing out this descrepancy. I will update the documentation to provide more clarity.

Re: Bar code size

There are many contradictions all over Lulu's site, mainly due to updates that do not update all instances of the mentions. One Example I still see at times is the possibility of still being able to create DVDs/CDs here. There is also a large link in Project Types that goes to the Yearbook Studio, and yet that Studio seems to have gone to be replaced with the normal' book Project start page. Yearbook has gone from the Project options list on My Lulu though. :-)

Re: Bar code size

Hi Kevin

As always, thank you for sharing your hard-won Lulu knowledge and insights. I found a reference to buying a "rap CD" in a Knowledge Base article (it has now been updated) and you may notice that the footer at the bottom of the Connect page has also been recently updated to remove the reference to purchasing CD/DVDs. I will keep my eye's peeled for any other references.

You are correct that the yearbook option is no longer part of Studio. Yearbook creators are now directed to the normal book creation start page. I followed up with our product manager, who was unaware that the yearbook option no longer displays on the My Projects page, but since yearbooks are no longer considered separate products, it could be an oversight or assumption on the part of the UI team. I will pass this along.

Once again, thanks for your community contributions and suggestions.

Re: Bar code size

If the large Yearbook link now goes to a 'normal' book Project start page, why even bother with the Yearbook Project name at all? You may as well also have links to Fact or Fiction book Wizards :-)

BTW: One difference with the old Yearbook Wizard was that it did not auto-delete if left dormant for over 21 days in Revise (so people could keep updating during the year) If it is now the normal Wizard, is that still the case?

Glenn

You may like to check out those links at the foot of every page.

The link at bottom right

About Lulu> Membership Agreement

goes to page http://www.lulu.com/about/member_agreement.php which sounds correct

but the text on that page is not the member agreement but the Lulu Corporate Profile

Re: Bar code size

Hi Peter,

Is not the second section on that page the details of the Lulu registration / membership agreement?
