Re: Quick Guide to Quilt Making Revised

Hi Cody

Much better cover image.

The insides call for the same comments many of us have made so many times before - right justify, use smart/curly quotes.

I don't understand why you give copyright to Lulu.

Table of contents doesn't have page numbers

Your back cover blurb doesn't look finished...

Weinman features the print edition of (title) a fantastic intro guide featuring the introduction ..... - feature & featuring, intro & instroduction

and the blurb end  ends

In this book Weinman brings it .. - Brings what?, what happened the the rest of this sentence?

The book is expensive for just 33 pages and the first chapter doesn't start until page 7 so with 9 chapters there are fewer than 3 pages per chapter.

If I wanted to know about quilting I'd be asking myself how much hard information there is  in this book and whether its worth the money.

Re: Quick Guide to Quilt Making Revised

Like your user name :smileyhappy:

Peter has some valid points buddy, but I'll add some pointers too:

Front Cover: Go to town on it with LARGE fonts, and perhaps the colour white instead - I found it hard to read what the title and who the author was :smileyhappy:

Copyright: Don't make Lulu the copyright as Peter has said - have it as your own name - if you need an idea of how the copyright page should look, check out my previews in my author spotlight (make sure its the paperback your previewing) :smileyhappy:

Contents Page: Make the : or - the same, pick one! :smileyhappy:

Page Numbers: Not to worry mate, many of us on Lulu have had this problem. Check out this youtube tutorial so you can start your page numbers from page 1 - and not start from the Copyright page :smileyhappy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1WtKR6FDM4

The pages look pretty tidy and neat - as Peter said, some words look as if they are missing - however I can probably bet that is because of Word being dodgy after proofing it. Proof it again, and read out loud each sentance to make sure it "makes sense" :smileyhappy:

Price: Little pricey, unless you also have pictures involved in the book? (and is it full colour?) If you do, you should put a couple into the preview to give the person previewing it a good idea of what the book is filled with - otherwise they may be under the impression that the book's contents is just all writing :smileywink:

Once you get these bits tidied up buddy, best of luck to you :smileyhappy: not often you get a young person writing such a detailed guide. Don't give up :smileyhappy:
