Re: Sanctum: The Requiem.

Lulu do not edit content. They do not read anything. But their epub convertor will chuck up formatting problems it does not like.

It is an epub is it? No way would that pass through to B&N and Apple.

Oh okay.  yeah it is. so rethink the description and fix spelling and grammar huh? For the spacing thing I was taught to have everything double spaced...and I think I have it all center aligned do I just leave it at left?

I just want it to be good..

Double-spacing is required by most editors if you are submitting a book to a publisher...but in print text is not double-spaced. The margins of the text in your book should be justified left and right.

Re: Sanctum: The Requiem.

Oh I see.  Left and Right huh?  I should change it to single space then?

Re: Sanctum: The Requiem.

Yes.

The best thing anyone going into self-publishing for the first time can do is just go to the library and check out a book that is similar to their own (in this case, a novel). Then all they have to do is use it as a model for their own book so far as formatting is concerned. The more your book resembles a traditionally published book the more professional it is going to look.

Well, I have to admit that I sometimes come down pretty hard on people in here...but, frankly, no harder than, say, the editor at a traditional publisher would. In fact, I'm usually not nearly so tough! Nevertheless, I don't mean to either upset or insult anyone in here, either, so I'm glad you've taken my comments in the spirit in which they were intended.

I understand that you have to deal with some problems, but that's all the more reason for you to find someone who can help you with your book. You sound like a young person, so perhaps you can find a teacher who would be willing to go over your book for you. I would think that most teachers would be thrilled to find a student who is ambitious enough to want to write a novel and do what they can to help them out. Or maybe you can find an older student or someone at a college who is studying English, Literature or Journalism who might be willing to give you a hand.

The bottom line is that if you are going to be charging money for a book it needs to be as good as any book someone might find in a bookstore. It's neither fair nor very honest to ask people to make special allowances for you. If because of special circumstances your book requires extra attention, then it is your job to make that additional effort.

I should point out again that you need to rethink your cover. I understand perfectly that it means something to you...but you are not the person seeing the book for the first time. A total stranger needs to be able to take one look at the cover of your book and at least get a general idea of what kind of book it is...without reading it first or having any special knowledge about it. I don't think your cover does that.

Re: Sanctum: The Requiem.

Hmm...perhaps I can find one of my English teachers at college this year and ask them.  I used 3D Custom Girl to make it since I have no artistic talent and the person that was supposed to make it never responded or said anything about it :<  I thought the cover was like it has to reflect what is inside the book or something?  Does that go for games and movies too?  I've seen covers where they only had the main character on front and that was it.  Also I want to put it up for free but Amazon and Lulu won't let me >_< You know until I can fix it and make it more enjoyable.
