At what point did I suggest making "claims that cannot be proven"? I suggested 're-purposing' negative comments to provide a 'hook' for sales.
The OP said that people didn't want to buy the book because it deals with negative aspects of religion.
Some people love to read about negative aspects of religion, and it's clear that controversy sells books, otherwise Richard Dawkins would never sell a bean.
What you consider to be advertising babble evidently works, or nobody would use these soundbites on their book covers at all.

I agree with Charles..
A slogan on the cover such as The book the Bishops Bashed would gain attention....

It is a very attractive slogan.
I may make some mistakes being a new publisher as far as formatting is concerned, but I do know an attractive slogan when I see one! ![]()
I wish you the best of luck!
