Beaming through it all

I just uploaded a novel I wrote called Beaming through it all. It's actually the first book I've written so I'm not so sure it's good, but you can check the preview to see what it's like.

Thanks for having a look at it!

Re: Beaming through it all

You're off to a flying start! I read the first couple of pages which were very well written.

A couple of comments that might help to make your book look more professional...

Indent your paragraphs instead of using a space between them and justify your text (that means to make the left and right margins even). Compare the pages of your book to those of a commercially published novel and you'll see the difference.

This is just spamming; it doesn't belong in this thread.

Re: Beaming through it all

Well written, properly spelled, and very clever title!!  Unfortunately they're all too rare here :smileyhappy:

But presentation could be a little better. Take to heart Ron's recommendations about formatting, it will make your book look professional.

Also, your book seems to start on page 1 -- by which I mean there doesn't appear to be   title or copyright pages which - again - make the book look professional.

Also, I have no idea what a round-off, flic-flac or backward salto are. Unless you expect all your readers to perhaps you should describe them. Such as

"Do what?" I said.....

"That. That stuf you did.. (then here get the boy to explain it , eg." That cartwheel and backward jump and standing on your heads -- that was amazing"

So now your readers know what they are and why the boy was amazed ....  Just an idea.

It's not very nice to usurp someone else's thread for a blurb about your own book, Micha.

Re: Beaming through it all

Wow thank you for your comments. I'll change the presentation and upload it again soon (and also explain gymnastics vocabulary if that can make things clearer for the readers). Although I don't know anything about copyrights so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to write?

Also I was wondering how I could get people to read it because to find my book you really have to look for it. Would you have any advice? Sorry for all these questions but I'm new here so I'm not very familiar with all this ^^

Wow -- that was quick.

You book looks so much better!

You've put in the copyright and title pages  and you've explained those technical gymnast terms so the reader understands them.

Having created a book tho' doesn't mean anyone is going to buy it. First they hav eto know about it. So you must market it. Ideas include contacting gymnast magazines and seeing if they're interested in reviewing it, contacting your local newspaper, Facebook pages etc etc etc.

First you should write a press release. The trick is to write it in such a way that the local paper can cut and paste the text and make it seem as ifthey'd written it. Find an angle -- I assume you're a young female (apologies if I'm wrong) - the press likes young women so somthing like

Gymnast Estelle Duermael is just 18 and yet she has had her first book published. In 'Beaming through it All' Estelle uses the world of competitive gymnasts as a back ground to a romantic love story that will grab the hearts ofreaders.....

here a bit about the story

Then some background on you

Estelle is a member of the XXX gynmast club which she joind when she was 8. "I always enjoyed pushing to the limits", she said. "Then I started competitive ......"

Get some photos taken, face & shoulders but also somthing unusual like in gymnast outfit hanging upside down on a beam.

Papers and media have acres of space and time to fill every day of the year and they ar elooking always for something that will  interest their audience.

Another thing to consider is getting a cover image that fits the book, how about a pic of a girl on a beam?

One last thing -- the best way to sell your books is to get it on Amazon. Yes, people can buy from Lulu but they prefer Amazon because most get free postage there.

So start a new project for this book and this time select you want the free Lulu ISBN, put the number under your copyright, eg ISBN: 978-12356779

then select the free distribution package.
