Lulu Short Story Contest Materials

[ Edited ]
You must meet our distribution guidelines to qualify.  Here's an abbreviated list of what you'll need:

  • An account on lulu.com to create a new eBook project using Lulu's DOC to EPUB conversion tool
  • 600 words or less of short story goodness in Word format using our template at the bottom of this post.
  • A title, and a  short description
    *Important notes*
please use Title Case Capitalization, avoid ALL CAPS
Don't put URLs or any type of advertisement in your description
If you have a subtitle, type it like this in the title field:  "Here is the Title of My Book: Followed by a colon and the Subtitle"
  • In the wizard, make sure you select “Sell Everywhere” and get a free Lulu ISBN
  • Use our cover wizard to create a simple cover with Author Name, Title, and Subtitle, if applicable
    *Important notes*
Make sure the author name and title/subtitle on your cover match what you entered into the project data fields exactly
Don't put URLs or any type of advertisement on your cover
  • Make an EPUB.  Keep your document simple; don't use columns, tables, or  images

Before you submit your story, be sure to preview your EPUB to make sure it looks good!  If you don't have an eReader, download a free copy of Adobe Digital Editions or the Firefox eReader plugin.

Please use plain text.
