private books....is there a minimum amount that must be purchased after proof is approved

I'm a little unclear about book pricing
Once a proof is approved is there a minimum amount of copies that must be purchased by an author?

A book created under the Private option does not need to be Approved. A book only needs to be Approved if you opt for an ISBN and Distribution.

No, Lulu uses Print on Demand, the minimum amount is one  :)

    There's a price calculator here >>>   http://www.lulu.com/create/books
  • This is probably the main reason I chose Lulu over other print-on-demand services -- the ability to print just one copy. Sometimes, a book is so personal that an author only needs one physical piece "to have and to hold." For me, I have found many tiny formatting things that I don't see on my computer, but are glaringly obvious in the print version, and I love the ability to print, revise, print, revise, and print yet again.

Gosh, that still sounds expensive! I am not sure what you are missing to see on your PC that you can only see in print. I would check your docx, or whatever it is, over and over and over again, and then do it again, then upload it! Could I suggest you buy a much bigger monitor?  :)
