Print ready files: PDFs won't convert (keep having an error)

  • The file size issue is likely a result of the print ready file expanding. If you compresses the file at all before uploading, it may be getting un-compressed when we prep it for print. Then, when the file sends to our printers it takes so long for them to download it times out, resulting in the error.
That said, 200mb isn't that big, so I'm surprised you're getting that error. I would start with ensuring all your images are 300dpi resolution and that the entire document is flattened. If you continue to work with our support team, they can always offer additional advice and assistance.
  • I can confirm I am having the same issue. I used the settings provided with InDesign CS2, yet it errors out and tells me to look at the support menu, which doesn't tell me anything new.
  • If your file is large, you might try to compress it (lower image resolution, flatten layers, embed fonts) as much as possible.

You can also try distilling with Lulu Job Options in Adobe (see attached).

If none of that works, reach out to our support team. They can help with more in depth trouble shooting.
